Data virtualization is a new technology for data integration that makes a set of data stores look like one logical database for applications and integrates data live (on-demand). In data warehouse environments, data from many different data sources has to be integrated as well. This is usually done daily or weekly, so users will always see data that is not 100% current. By applying data virtualization as the data integration solution in a data warehouse environment, users will be able to see more timely data; in addition, the data warehouse environments become simpler and more flexible, and it will reduce costs.
